'Daana Paani' explore the early days of 1962, when Havildar Mehtaab Singh (Jimmy Sheirgill) is given the honorable responsibility of personally informing the family of a martyred Lance Naik of his wartime demise, and along the way encounters an oppressed young village woman, Basant Kaur (Simmi Chahal). The trials and tribulations of their unexpected attraction sets each on a course of life carrying repercussions for themselves, their families and a once quaint village struggling against the emergence of modern times.
